Kitchen Lighting & Electricity

If you’re about to start working with home builders in your area, remember to pay extra attention to how you design your kitchen. Kitchens are some of the most commonly remodeled rooms in today’s homes, and that’s because so many people don’t give enough thought to what they want and need from a kitchen. Sometimes, it’s the little details that can make a big difference. Did you know, for example, that many people complain about not having adequate lighting in their kitchens? You really need to be able to see when you’re chopping vegetables or mixing ingredients, so always make sure that the home builders in your area install adequate lighting in and around kitchen workstations.

Another electricity-related hint, one to keep in mind whether you’re building a new home or looking at homes for sale in the area, is to look for a kitchen with plenty of outlets spaced at regular intervals throughout the kitchen. Just think of all the things—electric can openers, microwave ovens, electric skillets, water coolers, and more—you have to plug-in in a kitchen. If you want to have room for all of them, you’ll need plenty of outlets.
